Raising monitors off of your desk?

No one has any suggestions on any clever solutions to actually raise the monitors to ear level I guess?

if they're sitting on the desk, just get a few phone books/ hardware catalogues/ argos catalogues

Bricks or cinder blocks will work.

Wrap them in fabric if you need it to be pretty.

Yeah I think I want to make desktop racks... Can't be that hard I guess! Just wasn't sure on what to do as far as painting/finishing them goes, but I guess wrapping them in fabric will work fine for my purposes.

Well wrapping something that big that's open on the insides might be a bit more difficult, but I'm sure it won't be all that hard - you could always just paint 'em good ol' black!

Yeah I guess a solid coat of black spray paint would probably work okay eh? Might make a little project out of this over Christmas.

Yeah, spray painting them black will turn out fine if you're careful and do a steady and even job. If you really want to go hi-fi with this, you can get a hard, glossy spray paint meant for cars. I painted the neck of an older project guitar with such paint, and the outcome looked pretty much like any piano black, factory made surface.

A toned lacquer is always a good choice, too!

Well I prefer the cleanliness of brushing on paint, and it's less prone to bubbling and such, but now I'm just getting nitpicky

I'll have some customized "monitor-raisers" attached to my desk but I'm afraid I won't have any pics before X-Mas so I'm probably no big help here.
