Randy Rhoads

Randy Rhoads was awesome... too bad he is no longer with us. I can't even imagine what he'd be doing today.

Definitely required listening if you are a guitarist...

You are just discovering him NOW?

Man, it's hard to imagine not knowing who this guy is. One of THE most important metal guitarists ever. His sense of tone, melody and phrasing are on a completely different level than anyone else out there. When you talk about legends you say Hendrix, Van Halen and Rhoads.

Check out the solo to "Goodbye to Romance". Fucking sweet.

I second that....without Randy, Metal would not be the same!

He singlehandly changed Metal the way that Van Halen changed hard rock.

To this day..his playing still amazes me..I bought the tab book for Tribute years ago, and I still practice stuff out of it for inspiration.

Very well said! I'd agree 100%.

If you want a lesson in how important Randy Rhoads is, listen to the Tribute album. Not only is it one of the best live albums of all time (everyone needs to own it), it also showcases how ahead of his time he was.

And he was so young for having achieved so much - a quick bout with Quiet Riot, two Ozzy albums, and the live CD (which came out after he died anyway). That was enough to put him at the TOP of the guitar virtuoso heap. Everyone else followed.
