So in about five seconds I recorded a backing that was super-lame, just to get some shredding done. (Warning: May or may not contain actual shredd)

Since I've uploaded a few songs on here with some less-than-serious lead playing going on, I thought I would upload something that represents how I actually play. So give it listen and be nice, I'm fragile.

Pay no attention to the sound quality of the backing, it's pathetic. ROCK AND RRÖÖÖÖLLL

that is waaay to dated sounding for me, sounds like a 80's arena rock song... not my type of music but the soloing is hmm I don't know I'm not that fond of this soloing when you just play random notes I've been listening to in flames too much, I think and their solos always have a theme that reapers and is repeted... try to find a nice melody line that you can just improvise around and have it as a basic rather then just hitting random notes.... you are better at doing vocals imo :P

Damned by faint praise!

I thought it was pretty sweet, had a good feel, nice tone, not sure if it was really shred (as you said anyway), tad choppy at some points but otherwise a pretty good solo :p

Actually, I wouldn't mind having that backing track to jam over some time. ;) But you saw that coming, right? (from the 80's guy :) ) I think that's the most pentatonic stuff I've heard from you. There's some good stuff in there. Other times, you get a little lost. But hey, it's improv, right? I would sound the same way if I posted all my noodling around until I finally come up with a good solo. :) Like I said...there's some good stuff in there. Might have to hit you up to do a guest solo spot sometime. ;)

Thanks for the comments! I should have mentioned as well that it was all improvised.

inflame: Well there is nothing really "random" about it, but I guess I understand were you are coming from. Being a huge fan of In Flames I sure understand what you're talking about there, however I not to all fond of their way of soloing now a days. Melodies, sure, but keep the melodies being melodies and the solos being solos!

Öwen: Thanks, yeah it wasn't the most fluent but like I said it was all improvised which means it doens't really have the advantage of practice-makes-perfect!

I wouldn't really think of this as a final product or anything, I wouldn't put this out on an album. Just a general demonstration of my playing style, I guess.

Dude, you should let everyone download the backing track and do a guitar jam like Matt Parsons did in this thread! (and maybe shorten it as well, it's pretty hard to improv for an overly long time without repeating oneself, as you demonstrated ;) But don't worry, I'm the same way!)

AND I DON'T CARE IF IT'S DATED, IT RULES GODAMMIT!!!

And yeah, listening again, if you could change the riff slightly (keep the same key and tempo and stuff, naturally) after 16 bars (at 0:37 in the playback), that'd rule too!

 I don't think it's your soloing that is so wrong maybie it's just the backing track, it's just stuck on the same note (E I think) all the time... I like solos more when you change keys a lot it sounds more interesting that way like when the main note changes a lot :goggly:

Again, thanks for listening everyone!

Metaltastic: Yeah, sure I could do that, even though this is something ANYONE could whip up in about 3 minutes! And I was actually thinking alot of shortening it, by cutting of the part after the second riff, but then again there where some licks in there I just had to keep, so I'm stuck with it! :heh: But what kind of changes are you talking about in the 0.37 riff?

Glad you liked the pictures! I try to keep em interesting! Is there anyone other than the "shredding.." one you dig?

gry: Yeah, that's pretty much what it is!

EDIT: I've updated the backing track, and changed around a few bars while keeping the proggression pretty much the same. Sounds decent, check it
