Hey guys, here's a song from my upcoming project and we're doing vocals at this point so I wanted to get some opinions on them from you folks, both performance and how they fit into the mix. We're already going to re-do them (not me, my friend did these) so any crits and commentary I'll pass on to the guy nicely hehe, from what I can tell he's got too much of his speaking voice in it, there's that "uuuuuuuuu" you can hear under the growl that I personally dont really like, does that just bother me or what?

it sounds a little bit harsh overall to me,but maybe its how you want it,vocals maybe more up in the front, thee uuuu sucks yes but i guess this is a thing about how he sings, guitar solo more in da face also,it sounds far.

hm strange undertone in the growls indeed, but they do sound nice imo still!

mixwise it sounds a bit strange...very muffled/overdriven/clipping...not fitting the more modern production I think, maybe would fit into old shool stuff though

Yeah I pushed the kick too hard, and the guitars were a bit trebly. I am really going for an old school raw vibe, but of course I want it to resemble newer death metal mixes as far as clarity is concerned. The muffled bit is probably from the quick pseudo mastering attempt.

I think I ment the sound of vocals, not the rest of the mix (as far as I remember)

I'd suggest cutting around 250hz a few db's with a moderate Q. That should really help eliminate the "uuuuuuuu" undertone and help it sit on top of the instruments better.
