Hey! Check this guy's mix out. Seems decent to me, probably going to work on a project with him in the near future so just wanted some opinions. He works from a home studio.

If nobody else answers it's probably because they don't understand what "D00dz" means.

In the topic now. Drums lack punch and are mixed low, kick overpowers the snare, guitars are harsh (not necessary in a bad way, they just don't fit the style that much IMO), vocals don't sit good in the top of the mix (should be cleaner). I wouldn't work with him if there's additional options. (This mix is one year old thought and he can have improved since then)

Ha! Thanks for the quick response. He is one of a very limited number of options in my area. Well an affordable option in Nashville willing to record hardcore that is.

If you're serious about your music you can record with that guy, get the multi-track and pay someone here to mix it for you.

I hadn't really thought of that, but I really want to go somewhere with my music. Do you know what kind of price range I'm looking at. I'm aiming for five songs.

I would suggest you to record one song with him and post it here on the practice room as multi tracks for everybody. I'm sure you'll get some good mixes. Just tell him to record DIs and triggers if possible.

Price range? I'm not sure. But you will probably find some guys here on your price range. If you want you can send me a PM when you have the files. I could do one free good mix for you.

That would be awesome. So no real instruments? Just a dry recording unmixed and send it to some people?

just tell him to export a dry multitrack without any effects enabled and all the levels at 0.0dB.

Okay, sorry but I know he records both bass and guitar mic'd so, no go on that or is it okay?

Just ask him to record them straight into the soundcard. If he doesn't know what an amp sim is just play in the clean setting.
