Re:NSFW thread

Heya fellas,

The reason I can't allow the infamous NSFW type pics is Google ban hammers me from their advertising program, and if I can't earn revenue on the site it would cease to exist (it takes a lot of time and a nice chunk of cash for the server!).

There's a gabillion other sites you can get your rocks off on without having to *need* it here, I would hope :)

Sorry! :Smokedev:

seriously can someone explain this to me

1
how does google know when there's porn on the site??

2
why do they care??

i'm not trying to be a troll, i'm seriosly asking a serious question

This was already explained to you in detail over on the Bloodbath forum, numerous times.

i was actually specifically asking MetalAges, or anyone that actually comunicates with google

my thing is just that when you do a google-search for "ultimatemetal.com", you're not gonna see porn, so why does google actually care if we occasionally post porn pictures??

like seriously, could i get someone from google to explain it??

Deron, thank you for validating my decision to shut that thread down. I suppose the question on the table now is whether semi-pornographic content should be entirely censored from this site or whether posting them in pics and Males & Females exclusively would be OK. Commence the dialogue.

Strictly speaking, isn't all of the material on this site 18+? I think a NSFW thread is pointless but I have to admit I'm not sure how it's a problem for Google when I can put up slam album covers that are insanely detailed and gory rape/murder scenes no problem.

Google adsense is a complete seperate entity from the google search engine.

Metal-Ages should make a rule about people who constantly post Youtube.com videos. It's annoying. There are specific Threads were someone can post Youtube vids. I just can't understand why people come online and post dozens of youtube.com videos in every fucking thread.

Never understood the point of posting almost-porn on a board when there's shitloads of actual-porn out there that's easy to find.

When the rest of the guys in junior high gym were sneaking porn into the showers and masturbating together, we socially awkward and creepy guys were either too scared to join in or were prohibited from their special club. Today, the normal kids grew up to healthy and sexually-open lives, no longer competing in mutual cum-sniping, but content with casual discussion of Chet's new wallpaper of some nude chick on a convertible he'll never be able to afford with his degree in beer studies. Discussing what makes our cocks hard with others of similarly deprived backgrounds helps us compensate for our miserable childhoods and is an altogether satisfying and perfectly legitimate form of social bonding, albeit less personal due to the inherent nature of internet forums.

Exactly. I thought the same thing.

Sorry missed the followup comments.

Google is the matrix, that's how they find out! There are many ways they find out, and mostly automatic. They might ban hammer a porn site, which has an ip address and url - and the "googlebot" may trace that url around and see what other sites it is linking to, or is linking to it. Using that method alone it is not hard for the googlebot to find a porn thread or "racy content" thread. Advertisers through the Google Adsense program (and google as well) don't want their ads showing on sites that promote / contain porn, that's the easiest explanation. I rely on those ad dollars to help run this site.

That said, I just prefer not to have "it" on this site. I surf from work and a butt ton of others do as well. I have many times been scrolling a thread and then BOOM "it" appears on my screen, or some chick in slo-mo with ta-ta's a shakin'. What do you know, co-worker #7 walks past and sees it and starts busting my chops thinking I'm surfing "that" kind of site. Great...

So, it's things like that - this is a metal/music (and related) site. Sure, there's a social area and there are plenty of off-topic areas, but as long as they are just words on a screen vs. tits and ass galore, people walking by don't stop to read words - but T&A jump out pretty easy. I'm as horny as the next dude, happily married for coming up on 20 years - but there's a time and place for all that and I think majority of us here would prefer it is not present on this site so we can relax while surfing around the site.

As far as the Youtube stuff - can you show me some examples of threads where it's becoming annoying?

thank you for clearing this up for me

also i don't come to this site looking for porn anyway
when i'm looking at porn i can find it without having it posted on a fucking message board/forum, unless it's specifically a forum about porn, then there shouldn't be any hardcore stuff posted

They had a masturbating club in your high school?
