They mention a Simpsons movie on the season 7 DVD comentary track. They didn't give any info, just mentioned they were working on it.

they have been talking about making a movie for YEARS. I can't believe they have not done it yet. South Park made a movie before their 3rd season was even over! Family Guy just came out with one last summer. I mean WTF Simpsons people?

Honestly, If they had gone through with things and made that movie years ago it probably would have been much better. I'm not a fan of all the n00bs who are writing for the Simpsons now. It seems like every episode they just take stabs at all the other cartoons they are competing with. Although, I thought the whole "Bombardment!" thing was a trip!
