I tried removing excessive fizz and then I ended up adding
some of it back again because it sounded dull without the fizz.

The following clip was reamped using a 6505 and Mesa cab
and uses DI's posted by the forum user recemgsol.

Did I leave in too much fizz, or did I get the balance right ?

Same as Unprocessed Guitars but with a HP and LP

Dude, I think the tone is kind of cool but its really narrow. The mids really dominate the guitar tone, but it needs more gain and treble to really have bite. My advice would be actually be to add more gain, back the bass down and add more treble, if you want to keep the really middy tone. Also what eqing did you do to the guitars because it sounds very unprocessed. cutting at 400 and 700 could help a bit, especially with the mids being so high and then hp at 100hz and lp at 10 or 12 khz. I think that will make the tone fit much better. Blending in some raunchy bass will also help the tone seem larger/ wider. You should experiment around some and upload another clip. I'd be interested to hear how it turns out. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Cheers,
George.

Thanks for the comment.
You are correct that the guitars are unprocessed in the first clip posted.
I was trying to achieve EQ using layering rather than using a EQ plugin and I wanted
to see if that technique results in too much fizz.
I have posted some additional clips that have a high pass and low pass on the guitars.
The HP and LP help the guitars integrate better with the drums but the guitar sound
seems to lose some character in my opinion.

Does it sound better with the LP and HP ?

wow definitely cool to see the differences. The LP and HP definately help. I'm not sure if i like it with more gain actually, but its hard to judge because there is no bass and I just realized that the drums are fairly buried under the guitars.

I really don't hear the LP and HP taking away any of the character of the amp. In fact the guitar sounds a lot tighter with the cuts. The palm mutes sound much better.

This is really shaping up. I think the original tone with hp and lp with a nice distorted bass following the guitars and drums more prominent would do really well (the gainier clip could also sound good with this). A bass will really add something more to this and help the guitars sound bigger as will lowering the guitars in the mix a bit and making the drums louder. Take care.

George.
