This is my first reamp using my new equipment so it probably does
not sound that great yet but I would definately appreciate any
quick comments about what is wrong with the tone/mix if you
are feeling kind !!

The DI's for this song come from another thread called
"Reamping test please help" which was posted on the
general forum by Sly.

The cabinet is a Mesa Boogie Rectifer 2x12 and it was
recorded at medium volume ( not super loud ).

The Uberschall and 6505 sounds are blended with 50% of
each sound and the SM57 and MD420 are blended with
50% of each sound. There is no pre or post processing
so you are hearing exactly what the microphones heard.

Thanks for comments.

Yeah, you can trust me to take an overly complicated approach,
but I am not yet ready to give up on blending, I just need to learn
how to make it sound good.

Unavailable, You are right, I did not use much gain on either amp
but it was sounding indistinct through the air but strangely it dosent
sound that way through the mic's.

I dont know what grainy means but I think it might mean "scratchy".
This might be due to my mic positions. I placed both mic's on the grill
pointing directly at the centre of the speaker.

Try mixing with just the SM57's. They sound pretty good. It sounds like the MD's are adding a lot of cloudy low mids that are really muddying up the mix.

Thank you for the comment.

Yes dammit I cant get the MD421 to sound good,

I think I am going to have to listen to people on this forum
rather than just forge ahead with my crazy theories.

i think the best thing to do when blending amps and mics is to pick one source as your favorite one, and make it be the dominant source of the tone, with the others much more in the background.

The MD421 can sound good, but I have found that it is very sensitive to amp settings. A little change on the amp can make the 421 unusable. Then again I have gotten a few good tones using just the 421 and nothing else.

The MD421 is great!!!!!!
It works perfectly with the sm57

I would do that:
Use the md421 on axis (6-10cm away from the speaker)
Use the sm57 off axis (with the same distance) on the same speaker.

Make shure the mics create an angle of 45° degree.

Let both mics have the same level (in your daw) and pan both mics the same way.

Example:

PEAVEY
TAKE ONE (guitar 1)
MD 421 100% L -12dB
Sm57 100% L -12dB

BOGNER
TAKE TWO (guitar 2)
MD 421 100% R -12dB
Sm57 100% R -12dB

If you quad-track then do it the same way but only with this panning:

PEAVEY
Take one 100% R
Double 75% L (-5dB)

BOGNER
Take two 100% L
double 75% R (-5dB)

hope this helps

cheers
