reaper play problem

hello,

so i'm mixing a project with ~16 tracks and many plugins and reaper can't handle it. you know, if i start play it plays slowly and lagging.

how can i help it?

Render the tracks that have FX on them to stem tracks. It's a pain in the ass, since I always like to be able to tweak things constantly, but it works wonders to save CPU.

It's not reaper that can't handle it, it's your PC.

Besides rendering the fx you can also increase the buffer size of your interface, but it will also increase latency. If´s too much pain, time to upgrade the CPU.

probably. but i can't afford an upgrade.

so i'm trying to tweak reaper to help it.....

Right click the performance and click "Apply FX As A New Take" now when you do this shut off the all of the plug-ins on the other tracks so when you render you get the best quality because for a while when I did that, the quality would be SHIT. So it's key to do that, and once you hit "Apply FX As A New Take" you can turn off the Plugins for that track THUS freeing RAM and CPU shoot me a message with any questions you have with Reaper and I'll try to help as much as I can!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the smaller the buffer the less CPU it used -___-
