I've had that thing in my hands 4 or 5 times now and just can't talk myself into buying it, ends up back on the shelf. I've seen some killer reviews on it but I want to see some of it before paying.

The Anthrax record is too contrived, it's like listening to a hard rock lounge act. it could be that they were going to record that particular show & there was no element of suprise. It just comes off flat, though, I must commend the band on doing little to no overdubs on the disc, cos' it does sound live...

I doubt I will buy that DVD. Anthrax have been slowly going downhill imo and I orefer to remember them as they were in their heyday.

I'm glad you like that Evergrey. It really does grow on you and is leading the pack for my album of the year.

I have to agree with you on the Anthrax situation, they have hit the wall.
You know it's funny how Metallica get all this grief for what they have done & the direction they have gone? Yet Anthrax, should get just as much hell for what they have done to the band over the last Decade.

Evergrey is in the top 5 of 2004 right now & like you I think it will remain there for the next 7 months....

thats what Queensryche was like to watch! is it really that boring?
To me, the energy level is pretty low & they seem to be going through the motions. Hell, Scott's the only founding member left! They are like the Skynyrd formerly known as thrash band Anthrax or something.
It's kinda pathetic really. A bald 45 year old dude jumping around stage like he's 20 something, like he's still got the anger. What anger? They are writing pop songs! It's a sad day, he should have just continued to host the "Rock Show," he's a hell of a lot better interviewer than he is a musician. And John can go back to Saint or do some solo shit, rather than to throw his career away trying to "break" with Anthrax.

Nevermore and Evergrey have been dominating my listening schedule lately...2 awesome fucking bands...
Nevermore is my favorite band! They fucking KILL live man. The best riffs in the metal bizz.

I try to see them live twice a year at least. Too bad their last album was badly produced :(. Btw their forum here on UM sucks big time. Too bad because they really are a brilliant band

O, and last Friday I got myself the new Ayreon. Its called "The Human Equation". I bought the special edition. Its a double cd with a DVD. You have to see the package its beautifull!!

Again this album is a concept album about a man who's in a coma. His wife and best friend are beside his bed, but the larger part play's inside his head.

I have to say this; this is one of the best albums I ever heard. I already liked Ayreon's other albums. They were very good, but this is the best he ever did by far.

He recrutes all these great singers and then lets them play/sing parts against each other. The story playes out on different psychological levels. And it's just overwhelming and very emotional sometimes.

Imagine having Deep Purple "In Rock" with Led Zeppelin's III and Pink Floyed's "Dark Side of the Moon" mixed with 80s intense METAL!! And all that trown together on a double album.

Well, I stop raving now you can hear and see some info here:

I have to get the new Ayreon, it is next on my want list! Lucassen's works are always brilliant these last few years.
Man I have to tell ya, I have his "Actual Fantasy", "Electric Castle" , "The Dream Sequencer" "Flight of the Migrator" and the Star One Album and Live CD/DVD but this is his best work by far. Some of the lyrics just gave me the chills.

Deep stuff I tell you.

Continuing on my little UDO trend...

Accept - Balls To The Wall
Accept - Metal Heart
Accept - Russian Roulette
Accept - Eat The Heat (I know it's not Udo-era but this CD is a guilty pleasure for me. Commercial or not, I love it and had a hard time finding it)
