I've come to the point that my Mackie Onyx Instrument input just isn't good enough. What semipro/pro DI-boxes are there?

Countryman type 85 is a forum favorite afaik.

Get the Countryman Type 85 man. Built like a brick shithouse, no BS, will just give you a fantastic quality, pristine signal on the other end. Exactly what you want for DI guitars and bass.

Forgot to mention that the Countryman can take the speaker output of your amp head. So if you have a dummy load you can record quietly into impulses with power amp saturation.

countryman 85 is great.....there are some great deals on used ones on ebay lately...ive seen some go for under 80 bucks shipped...no brainer IMHO...

I also recommend the Countryman Type 85, and for re-amping the Radial ProRMP. Buying used from here in the US one can easily pick up the pair for around $150-$160.

Satellite... But last week after this thread was done I bought a Apogee One. And it's so much better in all aspects. I compared the instrument input with a couple of active DI-boxes and they sounded just the same. Maybe just a little more clarity through an active DI-box

Oh the Apogee One is great, been thinking about getting one myself for my other place. It's serious money for a simple single channel interface but the quality is pretty outstanding.
