recommend me a plugin compressor for vocals

A very easy to use one that can still sound good is the Waves RVox. Apart from that I like to use the URS Console Strip Pro, Waves Rcomp and Waves C1.

My advice is: don't use presets. Dial it in from scratch for the situation at hand.

Sonalksis compressor is awesome on vocals. I use URS CSP and usually some kind of limiter to really squish things afterwards.

yep....with the Dr Pepper setting (attack @ 10 o'clock, release @ 2 o'clock, 4:1 ratio, around 5-7 db of GR) ....love it.

U guys ever use that ssl lmc-1 free vst plug for vocals? I like what it does for rock vocals. Just discovered this plug.

The UAD-1 stuff is champion and I use it almost exclusively, but I really should try out those Digital Fish Phones free plugs as a way to offset the load on my UAD-1 card, since I have a quad core machine that absolutely slays the card in terms of raw processing power.
