Record Passive Pickups with Active DI box?

I'd like to know what tracking a guitar with passive p-ups with an active DI box would do... I mean, I know it's made for active p-ups but what if a band's guitarist only has a guitar with passive and insists to use his guitar? Will the signal be affected, weird, distorted, idk?

Active DI boxes aren't made for active pickups. Active DI designs are generally better for passive pickups because of their high input impedance.

Yep. Active DI's are typically better for passive guitars and also are better for long cable runs between the DI and preamp (e.g. at live gigs)

I have a Radial JDI and its really nice with SD JBs or passive P/J basses.

Not better necessarily, just different. The active will cover a wider variety of situations though so it's probably a good idea
