So Ive heard some talk of some people using just one big session with all the different songs in it.

Has anyone done this / would reccomend it ?

For most cases, I record everything into one session at basic tracking. Then I'll split up the project if I need to. But usually, the drums all tracked at the same time, guitars have the same setting - so mixing is much more uniform and usually you only need to make small changes here and there.

I'm also a big segway fan, so doing it all in one project gives me a lot of control over the flow in and out of the tracks.

I just did 9 songs in one session, everything worked fine for tracking. when it came time to do editing like Beat detective my computer really slowed down to a crawl so I had to export each song to a new session for editing, I'd like to get each fully edited track into one mix session though. That initself will be a full day of work.
I use PTLE, what are you using?

Ive done it and it worked ok, id say it depends on how much your getting paid to record it. If its just a quick job do it in one session if not id deffinatly use individual sessons.

for 2-5 songs I'll do one session, maybe editing separately and importing consolidated audio back for mixing. For more songs than that it can get a little crazy.

Sometimes, I just create a session for each song and each instrument. Then, I make all the editing and bounce the tracks. When you start the guitar session, we'll import the drum tracks we need. Same with bass and vocals.
