recording/mixing deathmetal myself then sending to get mastered. any tips?

planning on recording my death metal band TERMINAL SEQUENCE' first 4/5 song EP. will record my and my guitarists tracks/bass/vox at home and either rent a multi input interface or go to studio to record the drums. then send to get mastered. anyone have any tips or things i should consider when mixing and getting it ready for mastering? thanks
