I have been really into blues/rock these days like 60's/70's power trio rock (jimi hendrix, stevie ray vaughan, etc...), so i wrote this song using a sound i like with an old A961 strat a tube screamer and a fender blues junior (1X12), I only want to record one guitar track (because i'm always going in between lead a rhythm and i don't want and can't double), what would be the best way to mic the amp i am using to get the fullest and biggest sound without having to double to keep that "live" and organic feel ?

Here are the mics I have:
-Sure SM57 (I just have 1)
-AKG C414
-Crown CM 700 (pair) http://www.crownaudio.com/mic_web/cm.htm
bottom of the page.

with my setup i can record up to 5 mics simultaneously, so what would you do to get the fullest tone with a lot of ambiance ?

Any tip would be great. Thanks

I actually just tried this before you suggested but thanks !

So i found a cool way of doing it: The 57 is my main tone so it's up in the mix and panned like 30 to the right, then i send that track to a reverb bus and i pan the reverb (100% wet signal) like 50 to the left, and then i bring up the AKG to the left to where I like it !!

I learned this trick from just now listening to the first van halen labum where the guitar is panned to the right and reverb to the left, i realized the bass is panned a bit to the left too so i did that.

I added some very subtle hammond B3 sounds to the left so it helps make the sound a bit fuller.

I'll post some clips when the song is done !!

SRV is not "power trio rock", for the record. He was Texas Blues/Rock. Period.

Sorry, I'm just a huge SRV fan and that bugged me.

And also, to help you out a bit, for SRV studio recordings the process went differently pretty much every time. Two of the ways I remember fully are A) use a fuck-ton of mics on one amp or B) use more than one amp via a signal splitter and mic those up with as many mics as possible.
