So today I decided for the hell of it to completely redo one of an old band of mine's songs from way back in the day. Just mapped the drums, threw some guitar in, some bass in, added some vocals (IsuckatvocalsBTW) and 4 hours later I was done. I didn't really do any mixing on it because I was pretty much sick of it by the time I was "done" so it's just rough an prob will stay that way since it's not an official project, just for fun. just though I would share it with you guys. My old band mates thought it was pretty cool to hear.

Heres the Terrible terrible old recording from back in the day.

And Here's the one I did tonight just for fun.

I know my vocals suck don't hate

the first riff is still phrased a bit awkwardly and things could be a bit smoother overall, but otherwise it sounds okay and it's a clearly better, but there is still room for improvement. Maybe redo it like in 2014 and see if there is any progression? :)

hahah i actually laughed out loud, thats a good idea!

an yeah i know some of the riffs in this song don't even make musical sense but I was like 15 with a couple months guitar experience on my hands at the time that i wrote it lol. just wanted to keep it the same for authentication lol.

thanks guys!

and I would've liked to use a better guitar tone but this was the best I could come up with at the time. a little too much bass and gain after I listened to it. oh well

I dig it dude!

It sounds profoundly better than the first recording.

Your vocals are pretty sick dude. You're your own worst critic.

lol yeah i suppose your right haha.
still think there's a lot of room for improvement though,
but thanks!

Sounds huge. It's all good. Listened to stutterin' which is cool - I just started experimenting with our guitar sound this week and was wondering how that got done. Is it a side chain, manual edits, gating???

Thanks

oh haha. its just manual cuts in logic. you split the guitar clip into sections and delete or mute certain sections to create the "stutter effect". theres a ton of different ways to do it thats just how i do it. if your on PC you can also use a free vst called Dblue Glitch, i havent used it personally but i know a lot of ppl like it
