I'm not trying "copy" per say the sound from The Ghost Inside's first album, but I would like to get the same overall tone. Its very different sounding from most hardcore if you ask me, a lot more gritty and i think it goes well with their style.
I have Izotope ozone 4 in the mastering chain, guitars are pod farm, Drums are EZ Drummer (sadly i dont have the cash to throw down for Slate drums at the moment.)
The mix sounds like there is a huge chunk missing somewhere in the middle to me. I can't quite place it.
also i'm probably compressing it way too much.
Any pointers guys?
