This may seem like cheating on this issue, but I have recently discovered some stuff for the first that has remained in my deck consistantly, and that I thought deserves attention. First, foremost (and rare as an "A" grade on George Bush's college transcript!- Arf!) is the self-titled debut album by Hazzard. It came out in 1984 and features Fritz Randow's buddy Herman Frank on guitar. Crushing production, killer songs, and eyeball-popping guitar work! Too bad they only made one album.

Def Leppard's "On Through The Night" album and almost anything by UFO and Riot would have to be my recently re-discovered faves. Getcha Rocks Off!

Hey Lagoon is this same Onslaught that did "the power from hell"?

My redescovered classic recently was Onslaught's In Search of Sanity.
A real gem of an album with great songs. Heavy as hell but still melodic.

The other one was Apolyon Sun's God Leaves and Dies.

Thats the one Rick, they got rid of Sy Keeler the original singer for this one though and replaced him with Steve Grimmet of Grim Reaper fame.

A lot less thrashy than Power from Hell, but a great album, especially the 13min Welcome to Dying.

Thanks Lagoon, man you guys got so good over there in europe, we just don't get the great bands over here, on ocassion only and you have to look real hard to find the shows they just don't promote that kind of stuff over here.

Did Onslaught have high pitch vocal that attraced local dogs. For some reason I have them lumped with Agent Steel and Overkill.Am I right?

Yeah they did on the first two albums with Sy Keeler singing Wilks. More Agent Steel than Overkill though.
In Search of Sanity was a lot less high pitched!

I don't know about actual classics but isn't it a good feeling when you get somewhat drunk and then dig out those old albums you haven't listened to for ages? I'm doing that right now so notice that I'm drunk if I'm writing bollocks...

It6's funny people used to hate Venom. Every time they played a gig or a new record came out Kerrang used to slate them and the letters page would be full of people saying that they are shit. How times have changed they are now highly thought of and are seen as leaders of extreame metal.
How many bands has this happened to evan Saxon after 1984 were laughed at they rock harder now than they have done in years.Motorhead circa Orgasmatron(which as I think Black Lagoon said is fucking great)were thought to be passed their sell by date.Ha ha bollox to all the doubters thats what I asy.

Isn't it a good feeling when you just get somewhat drunk, forget recovering songs!

Yeah Wilks, I think Venom were a bit before their time. As you say, they were forever getting slated in Kerrang. I saw them a couple of times at the Hammersmith Odeon and they were fantastic. I'd love to see them again.

Fucking hell pax you saw Venom I never got to seem them.I was going to see them when Metallica surpported but me mam would'nt let me go to Brum on my own.As for getting drunk and listening to old records I should be doing that this weekend as my friend from London is up here in good old Leicester.I can see it now pissed out me face trying to convince the wife that Motoread,Saxon and the Ramones are top bands.

Yeah saw them twice Wilks. The first time was brilliant. The second time was good, but not as good as the first because the local council made Venom turn the noise down and not have so many explosions! There was a woman from the council standing at the side of the stage throughout the show!
