I've grown to be quite the fan of opera music and I'm looking to dig a little deeper into it. I say 'relatively obscure' because I'm not looking for Pavrotti, Andrea Bocelli etc.. I'm looking for the more traditional artists here.

Depends upon what you mean by the word 'obscure'. Pavorotti is simply a performer who has performed in a bazillion operas. Bocelli is basically a pop singer with operatic stylings (though he has recorded some classical music as well).
So... what is obscure to you? Would something like Boris Goudonov by Mussorgsky or Wozzeck by Berg be something you are thinking of?

I would imagine opera would be hard to come by these days. I think Mozart wrote a few good ones. Your the first person to ask on a forum such as this that I've seen tbh. Theres also broadway musicals but thats a more singalongy and more amature approach. I've always kind of enjoyed "Phantom Of The Opera", thats sort of an operatic and broadway hybrid, only hybrid I actually know of. I don't really dig the whole broadway thing. But the fact is I didn't really bother digging into broadway.
