Is anyone old enough to remember Angel Witch? Their debut album is a metal classic, especially the self titled first track...great stuff! I just found it on iTunes...it must have just been added...I've been looking for it all over for years.

Download "Angel Witch" and enjoy some classic metal!:headbang:

Another relic here...and by god, I love Angel Witch! This was one of my favorite bands back when I was perhaps 16 or so - very nostalgic stuff! Often overlooked, but brilliant in my opinion! :kickass: :headbang:

Angel witch, Stormwitch, Diamond head & Tokyo blade man i just turned 37 in dec, i was in my esrly teens when that stuff was high with me, and listening to them again made me young again!!!!! at least i feel that way.

Did someone mention Angel Witch:D

Hell yeah I sure do remember the mighty Angel Witch - probably THE best nwobhm band there was - well jointly with the mighty Diamond Head as well. I still listen to Angel Witch at least once a week and its true enough their debut album was a NWOBHM MASTERPIECE!!!!

I actualy saw Angel Witch a few times - once down at the Reading Festival - and they were absolutely splendid. Another time through in Edinburgh, 3 bands on the bill - it was ANGEL WITCH, TANK AND GIRLSCHOOL. Wow you can't even begin to imagine how mindblowingly awesome those 3 bands were. Fav Angel Witch songs would definitely be Angel Witch,Angel of Death, Freeman and Baphomet - SUPREME STUFF.

And talking of Diamond Head, I'm seeing them in April down in England, when they are being supported by the mighty DEMON - gonny get well and truly rocked at that gig I tell ya:headbang:

Just remembered that when I went to see Paul Rodgers 2 months ago, I was actually wearing my Angel Witch tshirt, and that concert was being recorded for a DVD which is coming out in April this year. So if you see a wee lassie wearing Angel Witch tshirt standing right in front of Paul Rodgers, THAT WOULD BE ME:cool: .

Not got time just now as I'm nipping out but I'll show you photo of me in said tshirt at that concert.

Demon! Wow....that's a super blast from the past..I had a picture disc, I think it was a 45...it had a real low budget shot of a guy in a cheesy demon outfit...awesome stuff!:headbang:

Here's the flier for the concert I was talking about when I saw Angel Witch, Girlschool and Tank in Edinburgh.

I've got a few Angel Witch items - I've got a few Angel Witch singles, Angel Witch, cos I absolutely love the AW logo. Also got a mug with the Angel Witch logo on it, an Angel Witch coaster, a couple of Angel Witch tshirts, and of course the Angel Witch patch and badge on my jacket yes which I still wear:cool: There's also a beer you can get here called Angel Witch beer which uses the Angel Witch logo - how cool is that - I've got the pump clip from the beer, and here's a photo of it on top of my mini fridge

Angel Witch!!! Pure cult. One of the most underrated bands ever. Their first album, like you have said, is, besides Diamond Head´s "Lightning to the nations", the NWOBHM album ever.

I got "Angel Witch Live 1990" and it´s a good effort with bad sound and "Resurrection", a compilation of three demos more thrash metal oriented and not so good.

In my opinion top 5 metal bands from NWOBHM are:

Angel Witch
Diamond Head (when I saw them live in 2005 it was amazing Brian Tatler is the real deal!)
Demon
Cloven Hoof
Witchfinder General

Great list, but how can you not include Priest?

Priest are the reason why I started to listen heavy metal in 1988 at the age of 12 but I consider Priest are previous to NWOBHM. I was talking about bands that started between 1978-1981 more or less.

WE can add to that list many more bands like Raven, Blitzkrieg, Tygers of Pang Tang... I love that stuff!!

That's a very good list Marco, and I've seen all those bands apart from Cloven Hoof. My top 5 nwobhm bands would be:-

Diamond Head
Angel Witch
Blitzkrieg
Saxon
Girlschool
(with the mighty Tank and Samson bringing up the rear so to speak).

I saw Blitzkrieg just about 9 months ago and they rocked insane, they were AWESOME. Got a few pics taken with Brian Ross and guitarist Ken Johnston. Raven I saw a couple of times and in fact they're playing in London in March but unfortunately I've already got tickets to go see Journey who are playing in Glasgow on the same night - hellsbells I'd rather see Raven of course but gotta go to Journey now. Saw the Tygers about 4 times, best time was with Tygers of Pan Tang and Praying Mantis on the same bill - SUPREME STUFF INDEED!!!! I still worship and adore every single nwobhm band, they rock and rule!!!!

And the reason Priest wasn't on Marco's list is because they wre about 7 years too early - nwobhm is bands from 1980 onwards - whereas I'm sure Priest started out in the early 70s, 73 I think!!!!

I feel envy!!!!! LOL.

Unfortunately bands from NWOBHM playing in Spain during the last years (apart from Saxon and Maiden):
Diamond Head, Girschool and Raven. Besides, Raven played in a festival and Mark G, lost 3 flights. They had to be rescheduled in the fest and due to time restrictions (3 a.m. they strated) Raven played only 3 songs with awful sound. I´m trying to go to Play It Loud Festival in Italy this february in which Raven and Blitzkrieg play.

Saxon are kings!!! But for me, they are far better live than on album. Live they´re unbeatable!!. Biff is the number 1 frontman for me. I like Girschool but not from my favourites. Of course, Samson rocked it!! And now I´m thinking about Elixir. They were formed in the twilight of NWOBHM but their "The Son of odin" is overwhelming. Even, their 2003 comeback album "The idol" is superb.
Special mention to The Rods. Yes, they were from New York City but, in my opinion, sounded like british bands from that era. "Wild dogs" a must have album.

And so on Tysondog, Hellenback...

Brilliant! I am entirely envious - an "old-school" dream gig! (The only thing I could compare with that was a Motorhead, Mercyful Fate, Exciter, gig back in 84 or 85)...can't quite recall, which is a bad sign! Anyone still sporting an Anger Witch back-patch is righteous indeed:kickass:
Hails to us aging Metal Geezers!! :headbang:

I've got a feeling that even when I'm about 80 years old, I'll be shuffling in a zimmer frame still around wearing an Angel Witch tshirt and backpatch:lol:  Here's that photo I was talking about with me sporting the said Angel Witch tshirt (my fav tshirt of all time), this was taken just before the Paul Rodgers concert 2 months ago.

I bought during Metalway Festival (here in Spain) an Angel Witch t-shirt with the "Angel Witch live" cover on front and AW logo on back. It´s amazing! My most precious t-shirt. Well I got one from Metal Church signed for the band but I washed it two or three times and signatures faded away.

Besides, I´ve never seen anybody here in Spain with an Angel Witch t-shirt. A shame! Cool t-shirt Princess_of_the_night2112!!! Mine is black!.

UUUAHHH!!! Mr Dave Hogg himself! Amazing! How fun it is Ultimate Metal! Everyday a susprise.

Dave, just say thanks for the good times listening "Angel Witch" and "Screamin´ and bleedin´". Besides I love Blind Fury. In spite you finally didn´t play in "Out of reach" I consider that band a kind of "best of" NWOBHM bands with members from Angel Witch, Satan, Pariah, Persian Risk... then, Skyclad...

I´m going to listen now "gorgon", "confused", "angel witch", overwhelming!!!
