I have no problem with polished sounds per se, but Wintersun is just ridiculous. That fucking triggering is the most stupid thing I've ever heard. It has absolutely nothing to do with the accompanying guitar riff structures.

However, this applies to half the songs, the other half are fine. That said, Erik isn't too keen on Ensiferum anyway so it matters little.

Erik's never heard Ensiferum.

But yeah, I doubt he'd like either. Wintersun is like Ensiferum, only not as good.

I like Bloodthorn's debut album, where they played melodic BM, but their new stuff (like the song Henrik Main posted) is totally different (and pretty rubbish, frankly), so I wouldn't bother checking them out.

yeah i also had the impression they would be a bit more melodic. the stuff henrikmain posted is the kind of stuff i find competent but DEADLY FUCKING BORING. meh. maybe if i absolutely have nothing better to do at the time i will go see them

Bloodthorn's 1st album is quite good. After that, they went straight up BORING as fuck death metal.

Anyway, OBVIOUSLY you can't check out every band in the world (especially with all the basement bands) but I always just assumed that if people were writing off a band (say, Ensiferum) it's because they sampled first and THEN decided against it.
