"The band started its activities in September of 1995 in Montevideo (Uruguay) featuring a local compilation. At that time the line-up was Martín López (drums - ex Amon Amarth; Opeth), Martín Méndez (bass - Opeth), Pablo Magallanes (guitar) and José Romero (guitar and vocals - ex Inner Sanctum)."

Back in Turkey, Mendez told me the things they recorded with RA were pretty shitty and that they were kids at the time... And this RA business is not really news to many people on this forum I guess...

Requiem Aeternam has been in existance on and off since 95, and Martins took part in the very beginning of this band. Since then, the band has been in multiple compilations, and released one album in '98 called "Eternally Dying". I could see how Martin could call the old stuff shitty, since it was just the beginnings, and noone writes great material from day 1.

Requeim Aeternam has always been fueled by the main person behind the project, Jose Romero. Jose now lives in New York City, and although the band has all but dissapeared in the last 2 years, this will very soon change. RA will be entering the Big Blue Meenie studio in New Jersey to record the second full length. The music and the writing style is a lot more mature now, and quite original.

lets just say i've had the honor of hearing the full preproduction of the new album ;)

I seen that picture. I thought that was a picture of the current line up! How can that be the martins lol. Corpse paint adds about 30 lbs to a man's face. Mendez looks as fat as horgh.

This is the oldest picture I know of.. and it really paints the wrong picture about Requiem Aeternam, as its not a black metal band. It may have had its roots there, but its moved on from that image long time ago (before the first album).

Listening to it, I can't call "Eternally Dying" a black metal cd.
