If I'm not mistaken, someone on this board tried to find the place and had a difficult time but eventually found it. I'm going to the City tomorrow and was thinking of checking it out. How did you eventually find it? I think you said that there wasn't anything on the door to indicate that it was the bar.

Thanks!!

To be honest with you I'd rather have him playing than clarifying. He's not really good at clarifying, but the playing he does awesomely.

Retox is open for what? 2 month? I tried to get in there with my wife a couple of weeks ago to check the place out. Well, I know the city quite well, but it took me about 15 min walking through the same block to even find the door, wich was of course locked. No sign, no advertisements, not even a building #... But "Scores" is right across the street, I wish I were alone that night...

This help..??

Yeah, that's why I'm confused. At the CDC, it sounded like it was just another bar to chill out and occassionally people came to play. This doesn't sound like that's the case, though. I think I'll be checking out another bar tomorrow night instead.

Hey, that was me. And I didn't mean to put anybody down, just stated the fact. Could happen I just wasn't lucky. Maybe today(tomorrow) the place works just fine...
On the other hand - I signed up for the announcements at the club's website about 2 months ago, nothing came back my way; on Dec. 31 I tried to call there to find out may be there is something happening on the Eve - no answer, not even an answering machine. Who knows, may be they 're still in the process...
Anyway, just take Lincoln tunnel and you'll be like just 20 blocks away, turn south, don't look for parking before you're sure you're going in there...

Thanks so much. I might try again when there is something actually going on there. I signed up for the announcements as well and haven't heard anything. We are going to try a bar called Three of Cups instead. I heard that place is pretty cool - good music, nice atmosphere. I'm looking forward to that.

Well the plan to Three of Cups got nixed too. Actually all of tomorrow's plans went down the drain.

83 First Avenue at 5th Street

Like I said, I have never been there but I heard its a good place to go. There is a restaurant upstairs and downstairs in the basement is the metal bar. Its not exceptionally big, either.
