I don't have audio clips of that effect right now, and I'm surely not talking about reverse reverb. It's like this:

1. There's a gap in a song.
2. I can hear a cymbal hit reversed up or even some vocal syllable.

I'd be grateful if any of you could give me some pointers.

Is there some reverse plugin? Is it specifically known as a tape-reverse effect?

I think i have created the effect you are talking about using the reverse reverb technique on a cymbal hit. And for the lazy man, I know there are some film trailers sound f/x's out there that do the job nicely.

If you're using PT, in your audiosuite plugin list in the bottom dropdown menu you'll see a plugin called "Reverse"

just grab whatever audio region you want reversed and process. If you're not using PT, someone else will have to chime in.

As a side note, it generally does sound better with at least some actual reverb in combination with whatever sound you are reversing. Just my opinion

easiest way instead of looking for a reverser in your DAW is to slap the sample into Audacity, select all, reverse plugin, export & re-import into your DAW

uh, no?

right click, audio(or whatever) -> reverse? (in cubase and reaper at least, i can't imagine other DAWs don't have a reverse function o_O)
