Rhapsody + Grave Digger for 2003????

I'd certainly like to see them both, although I think Rhapsody would probably only play if they were headlining but that would be a good thing, maybe Luca Turilli could do some of his solo stuff earlier in the day. Also to the best of my knowledge I don't think either band has ever played in the UK before!

Anyway it's nice to see someone suggesting some decent bands on here!

NO NO NO NO NO! what are u thinking!!!!!!! No one and i mean no one is gonna headline except Children of Bodom :worship:

lol, i haven't heard ne gravedigger or rhapsody but still they can't be better then Cob :worship:

Grave digger played london????
Not only did they play London, but they were absolutely awesome. Easily the band of the night, and they far outshone headliners U.D.O. I'm really hoping they play the UK again soon, particularly given the strength of their most recent album (their best since "Tunes of war", IMHO). Incidentally, the opening act that night was Rainmaker 888 (now renamed Enemymaker 888, who appeared at Bloodstock '02).

NOOOOOOO ahhhgggghhhh, damn im so fuckin jealous, i d kill to see them play....... SO NOT FAIR.....:(

To right, the grave digger was a fuckin great cd \m/

Talking to Luca & Alex in Paris, earlier this year their response, when I asked them about the possibility of playing in London was along the lines of 'its not going to happen'.

Personally I think the problem is their label (LMP) which being a German label seems to think that the UK is still in the dark ages musically and doesn't think that there is a 'metal' world beyond the pages of kerrang! I see from their webpage that they are now managed by Joey de Maio of Manowar, which might help the band in the states, but isn't going to help them in the UK very much since Man-o-arse haven't been to the UK in yonks!

Grave Digger - not really interested - ditto for CoB, who I just can't seem to get into -I think its something to do with Alexsi's voice:)

GET GRAVE DIGGER NOW!!!!! Basically I know about 4 people who 'might' go to Bloodstock '03 but 'definately' will if Grave Digger are there? Also a mate of mine heard a rumour that they ARE going to be there...hmmmm

Both Rhapsody and Manowar are down on record as officialy stating that they have no intention of coming here (but Blind Guardian said that as well) and yes Grave Digger did play a blinder in London as part of their Excalibur Tour , what a great album that was.

Any idea why they said that? I would have thought
that Manowar especially owed the UK bigtime for
keeping their careers going when the US just
thought they were crap.

The last time Manowar "Hailed England" was '92ish wasn't it? Off The Triumph of Steel album.

Luca has said he may play some festivals off his latest solo album Prophets of the Last Eclipse (which is excellent by the way).

As for Rhapsody not playing unless they were headlining, I'm not so sure about that. They played very early in the day at last years Bang Your Head Festival

No, it was at the Marquee in 1994, promoting the "Secrets Of Steel" boxed set. Which admittedly is only marginally better.

"Proudly we return to English shores"

I guess Joey has forgotten that he once wrote those words :-( I had to go to Sweden to see them last time...

With Rhapsody I think it is just that they feel there is no following here and I know for a fact that with Manowar it because of their Record Company not wanting them to come here because of so say "poor sales" hence no promoter will take a chance on them. At least Primal Fear and Kamelot etc take the chance and come here!

Those two statements don't really fit together, since Mat SInner (of Primal Fear) owns Nuclear Blast (Manowar's record label). Manowar easily outsell Primal Fear, so for Mat to claim poor sales prevent a UK Manowar show just doesn't seem plausible.

Manowar may well outsale Primal Fear but perhaps not here. I am fully aware of Mat`s position within the company but unfortunately gigs being booked come down to promoters taking a chance and at the moment UK promoters wont touch Manowar with a shitty stick. A friend of mine spent some time with the band in the states last year and they have said they would like to come here again but at the moment they feel there is not the following here anymore for them.
