RIP Captain Beefheart

Woke up today and found out that Don Van Vliet, otherwise known as Captain Beefheart, left us today.
Can't say I was his biggest fan, but hats off to a true innovator and legend.
Rarely does someone like this come along and shake up the music world like that.

Beefheart was a huge inspiration for Tom Waits. Bless em for that.

Spend most of my first year in college listening to Trout Mask Replica on repeat.

The man was a musical titan for sure.

Yeah no kidding man. Me and my friend at the time would be singing along to Tarotplane on the way to work in the car last year since he was really into prog rock/experimental stuff from that era and he basically introduced me to Beefheart's music.
Logged onto Facebook this morning, and one of the first posts I saw was "RIP Captain Beefheart" and wasn't sure if it was for real, because I knew he wasn't THAT old.
But looked it up, and sure enough, it was for real
