Not a big Pantera fan, but something like that should never have happened. RIP to a well-respected guitarist. And also to a well-respected songwriter from England.

Same here - never was huge fan of Pantera, but this really did hurt. I mean, come on! The guy was just up there playing guitar to an audience - doing something he obviously loved! He was not causing trouble, and people were there enjoying his show, not unlike what I've just experienced at the Blind Guardian show - only to have that fuck come and ruin it for everyone! I think that cop did the world a service by squeezing off a 12-gauge into that fuck's face! I feel so sorry for those that had to be there to witness this horrific tragedy, especially his brother who was right behind him on the drums. My prayers are still out for Dimebag's family, friends, and fans, as well as to those other three folks that were taken from us that night (including a fan that tried to render assistance - the guy ended up giving his life in an effort to help another!). Whenever I think of this, I still cannot help but try to keep back a tear (even as I type this).

As far as I can tell, this was probably the one of the worst tragedies in metaldom, next to that Rhode Island night-club fire at that Great White concert (another terrible tragedy that could've easily been prevented).

Sad indeed - R.I.P Darrell 'Dimebag' Abbot (1966 - 2004)!

GETCHA PULL - R.I.P Dime. As I came into work today, Sirius - Hard Attack played Revolution Is My Name. Pantera and Dime will always be remembered.:kickass:

Skibump, it was Great White... but I digress. I still remember that night vividly. I was actually chatting with a guy, whose younger brother played in the opening band that night. He told me 'dude, I think the Pantera guys just died... let me get more info for you :( ". RIP Dime

Rest in Peace, dear Brother...

Bryan, do you still have the pictures of the memorial display?
I tried searching for them online, and all I found was a Blabbermouth ad for the show.

Yup - you are right - my bad , I just got those two mixed up (went back and edited my post - I do remember it was the band that did "Once Bitten, Twice Shy").

Still, fucked up, regardless who was playing, but like you said - less we digress....

The thing I remember vividly about that whole Dimebag episode was seeing the article that following morning on the 'net. It was simply headlined as somthing to the effect of "shooting occured at a concert". Thinking it was probably another night-club shooting at a hip-hop show (like that hasn't happened before), our just some crazed fuck shooting at the audience , I went and read the article anyway. Once I read into it and found what actually happened, my jaw just dropped.

I cannot even begin to imagine what were going through folks mind at that show that night. It had to of been awful. Everytime I go to a show after that, it has always been in the back of my mind and I cannot help to think, "What if something like that happens at this show? What if the band member that was just killed in front of me was a long-time personal friend of mine?" Gives me the shivers everytime I think about it.

I was on the phone with Dustin from Kat V talking about something PPUSA related or just catching up and I saw something on another forum and bam, it hit us, all over the web and then later on TV, very sad day...
