RIP Mike Starr

Cool, fair enough.

Back on topic, did anyone catch yesterday's news report that the drug dealer Mike Starr contacted that day leaked what is being reported as Mike Starr's last voice message before he died? Talk about a real scumbag, in trying to make a quick buck over it. I certainly don't condone Starr's drug use, though still, that's REALLY low!

I saw the headline, but didn't really delve into the article, regardless of the circumstances, it's beyond fucked up.

I am just goofin on the dude....
Stop taking yourselfs so seriously.
The reason for the post was in direct response for his apparent realization that it might come off as name dropping.

Name dropping a Novembers Doom member and 50 cents MIGHT get you a small Frosty at Wendy's.... If you're lucky...........

 Well, to be honest dude I didn't realize if you were being serious or not. Now that I know, disregard my post.

And double  at the 50 cents comment in regards to November's Doom...  I think I might sig' that.

he heard him sing Battle Angels once and he hit all of the high notes. Hearing that blew me away, because he was NOT known for that kind of singing.

There aren't many shows that would convince me to spend big money. If I could've seen this in concert, I would've spent 150+ bucks easy.

Yea, not sure of the circumstances of it, pretty sure it was just him fucking around and Jim heard it. I know it definitely wasn't at a show or anything, unless somehow AiC covered Sanctuary REALLY early on. I didn't go so far as to get details on when this happened exactly. He called me earlier to get my opinion on a couple of movies because he knows I run a theater, and I suggested for him to go see The Adjustment Bureau, so he said he would call me back later and tell me what he thought. I'll ask him how it happened, because now you have me curious about it as well.

For the record, just got off the phone with Sheppard, and this subject came up. I asked him and he was never in AiC, he was in a pre-AiC band with Layne called Sleeze (a "complete poison knockoff, big hair, chandelier earrings", in his words), and when Layne left to join AiC, he asked Jim to come with him, but Jim was getting involved with Sanctuary at this point and turned him down. Layne said to Jim when Sanctuary got signed by Epic, "Don't forget me man", only to have AiC get signed not too long later and become one of the biggest bands in the world. Evidently Layne was a huge Sanctuary fan and Jim said he heard him sing Battle Angels once and he hit all of the high notes. Hearing that blew me away, because he was NOT known for that kind of singing. Not getting in here to "drop names" or whatever, just wanted to give you guys some insight to something you might be interested in, and to set the record straight.

I wonder if we'll ever have something like Seattle again.

Yeah I mean that just sounds like it would have to be amazing.

Who knows man. Maybe not on a scale as big as that, but maybe so. I mean, my hometown (Athens, GA) is sort of a music mecca too, but obviously not on the scale of Seattle. B-52s, R.E.M, and Widespread Panic, and while those 3 bands are influential, they are 3, up against MANY, from the Seattle area that changed certain aspects of rock music forever. To be frank, I wish we would have something like Seattle hit again. The grunge movement killed a lot of good metal, or made it go dormant in many cases, but it also produced some killer stuff. With as much crap that is out there right now, we could use something like that again to cull the heard a good bit.
