For the record, just got off the phone with Sheppard, and this subject came up. I asked him and he was never in AiC, he was in a pre-AiC band with Layne called Sleeze (a "complete poison knockoff, big hair, chandelier earrings", in his words), and when Layne left to join AiC, he asked Jim to come with him, but Jim was getting involved with Sanctuary at this point and turned him down. Layne said to Jim when Sanctuary got signed by Epic, "Don't forget me man", only to have AiC get signed not too long later and become one of the biggest bands in the world. Evidently Layne was a huge Sanctuary fan and Jim said he heard him sing Battle Angels once and he hit all of the high notes. Hearing that blew me away, because he was NOT known for that kind of singing. Not getting in here to "drop names" or whatever, just wanted to give you guys some insight to something you might be interested in, and to set the record straight.
