ahh thats soo gay:(
i loved sikth!

God, I hate to think how expensive those things are if they make so few as to have closed off ordering for all of 2009! :ill:

And the F8, jesus christ - it's cool that the highest string is 25.5" scale length and the lowest 28", but FUCK that must be annoying to play; I'd think high sweeps would be all but impossible

They look like really nice guitars, but why not save yourself a couple grand and get a Prestige Ibanez? Haha. Or just find one of many talented luthiers out there to make you a guitar for less. They do exist.

The B6's are £1000 and an Ibanez Prestige in the UK will set you back around the same or a little more. The Ibanez will come with shit pickups and probably a horrible paint job. The B6 comes with your choice of pickups, including the choice of Bareknuckles which are £200 for a calibrated set.

The B2's and the rest of them are around double the price, but I feel are well worth it. The fanned fret is surprisingly easy to play. Few minutes to adjust thats about it.

Blackmachine needs to open up a factory, hire some employees, etc. It's absurd that orders are closed through 2009 - the guy is leaving money on the table!

Especially for those prices, jesus! I thought it was gonna be like 2000+ for the cheapest if he's got that level of "exclusivity" or whatever you wanna call it; I'd call 1000 for the lowest a bargain

I think the thing is he isn't doing it for the money, and feels that he is the only person to finish the guitars to the quality he wants them at. The expensive woods are extremely hard, and very difficult to work with. The cheaper stuff I think is done in a factory, which he is testing the waters with, but is still hand finishing everything off.

Ahh, I didn't realize he was in the realm of normal custom guitar prices.

And in all fairness, every Ibanez I've picked up has had a great paint job. Hell the three we have here in the house all have great paint jobs on em. And they're the cheap Ibanez's! Every Prestige I've picked up has been beyond great. FWIW.

But yeah, its dumb he doesn't expand his business because I'm sure he'd be selling a lot more.

I spoke to Doug a while back and having a production line is definitely something he has had to think about through sheer demand, but like you say he wants to retain the quality that he can only guarantee doing himself.

I've had my B2 for a couple of years now and it is the most beautiful guitar i've had the pleasure of playing. Had a quick couple of goes on the 8 strings but 6 is more than enough for me :D
