Hi,

I'm about to upgrade my soundcard. Any advices? The rme say the soundcard is award winner and that it contains 52 channel. Are these 52 channels synonym of "52 mic inputs"? if so, does it have preamps for each channel? About delta 10/10, I don't have many questions. I already know the soundcard quite well.

Reasons why you would prefer one over the other, etc.

Thanks for any insight

The RME (http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/hdsp9652.htm) has no preamps, not even any ADC it seems. It has 3 ADAT interfaces (each 8 channels) on which you can connect any external AD with ADAT out (e.g. RME ADI-8, Creamware A16, Fostex VC8, Behringer ADA8000 etc.pp.). So it's not a soundcard but only a digital audio interface.
But this is the more professional way. External converters are better.

3 x 8 = 24, plus 2 SPDIF channels, 26. I think they mean you can cascade two of these cards to get 52 channels into you computer. Or they mean you have 52 virtual channels which can be routed to the physical I/Os via the internal mixer. Don't know.

Have you checked the new emu digital audio systems ? i´m considering buying the 1820m. It is a 8 input card with 2 tfpro preamps, great pro tools hd converters, real time hardware-accelerated dsp with no CPU overhead, 18 audio inputs and 20 outputs, 32 channels of MIDI I/O. It costs 500 €.

the only downside is a weak driver but last month a new driver came out that seems to be stable. check the emu forum for info.

What's the cost (€) of that card? I think 8 inputs aren't sufficient for micing drums, what do you (not just you, but the forum people) think?

How would you compare that emu one with m-audio?

Thanks
