Rob Halford vs 'Ripper' Owens

I's prefer Ripper to Halford, because Ripper has a far better vocal range than Halford does.
But don't get The Pimp wrong, I's been a Judas Priest fan from way, way back and I's thinks Halford has got an awesome voice, but Ripper just kicks it up that little more. To see what I's means, just watch the Judas Priest Demolition Tour DVD and watch how much better singer and showman Ripper actually is.
But Halford does still rock the fuckin' planet!

Well, I like both singers. Although, The Ripper Owens takes too much slack from Priest fans in my opinion. Halford can sing higher but Ripper has like this raspyness and he can also hold notes longer than Halford.

One thing that impressed the shit out of me was when I heard this Priest bootleg from 2002, and the Ripper held the ending of "Victim of Changes" for about 15 seconds, the band wasn't even playing, he was just wailing his ass off on stage!. Incredible!

Yeah was that Graspop Metal Gods? That was in Belgium, I actually saw him do that live. Indeed, amazing!

hey Troy....Uli is the bomb, isn't he. got a copy of the reissued Tokyo Tapes the other month, he was something else.

ref Halford, he is the original. Ripper may be more talented at this point but remember, he's also about 20 yrs younger.

and another decent Halford influenced singer:
Ralf Scheepers

I don't know about holding notes longer, I watched the DVD wth ripper...and he kept stopping early...earlier than halford would.

plus, he's not very good at doing painkiller or metal meltdown...just doesnt have the intensity.

What Halford himself says about the muscled teutonic warrior Scheepers, and his band Primal Fear: Rob: "They do and they do it well. I think that in their own right they have their own thing to say and I think that they’re grounded in their own ideas. The fact that a lot of bands inspired one another, they’re influential, is just a reflection of where some people tend to go. Primal Fear are just tremendous, talented musicians in my mind. The Germans have a knack for playing great metal and Primal Fear are bringing in that kind of almost classic metal tone to the show."

Ralf Scheepers is also a wicked vocalist too, I really wonder what it would be like hearing him singing like Painkiller or Victim of Changes... Hopefully I'll get to see Scheepers + Halford at the end of this month!.. fingers crossed heh.

Halford's highs are way better..but Ripper has that cool Pantera-esque growl thing too.

Halford rules.

Sheepers should have totally gotten the JP gig btw, I'm surprised he didn't kill himself.

Scheepers is a really cool guy, he is probably really happy to be where he is now, in Primal Fear. I can't see him being bitter about it. He has posted a few times on the Halford Quorum (forum for queers :p), and some users from that forum have pm-ed and he has responded to them several times.

Anyways, you are lucky retarded penguin, I still am not sure if im going yet... we'll see. Why the fuck does it start at 6:30pm though?.. its going to end at like 2am hah!. The montreal show starts at like 5:00pm.. rahh, at least we get the show eh.

I like them both, but Halford is THE METAL GOD. So what if he is gay, the man can sing and I'm a Priest fan from way back to British Steel. However, Ripper is versatile in that he sang with Winter's Bane, as well as the Priest tribute band, and the band Seattle which covered Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, (basically "grunge") etc... (However, they didn't cover Heart, Jimi Hendrix, Queensryche, and the mighty NEVERMORE. All from Seattle. In closing, I thought both Jugulator and Resurrection were great, but Demolition and Crucible were mediocre. Just my opinion.
