Homosexuality has never really been approved of in the Middle East, but now a gay-fronted rock band has gotten the official seal of approval from Iran.
BBC News is reporting that QUEEN, fronted by rock star Freddie Mercury, has become the first band to receive that kind of approval in Iran.
How? Queen's Greatest Hits was officially released in Iran on Monday which, according to the BBC's calculations, is a first for the band.
The band's record label said: "Authorities approved of the tunes that had a social theme, leaving out the love songs." Queen's Greatest Hits is now selling in Iran for less than a dollar.
