I was checking the www.ilovemetal.co.uk website and noticed this statement about Tom Lange, Korn´s producer: "Tom also mentioned that in general he rolls off everything below 40Hz on basically every track, as there's no need for any of the info down there which will just eat up headroom."

Is it a common practice ? on every track? Well i take for granted that some ( a lot ? ) of tracks need to be rolled-off but every single one ?

I've heard of this before, and I do it myself actually, usually around 30hz though out of irrational paranoia of losing "something" although that's in mastering...

With mixing I tend to roll off frequencies that arent used, guitars/vocals below 60hz, etc. - don't overdo it, but the main thing is it helps avoid the summing of sub-harmonic bass frequencies in your mix, which can create an extremely annoying "rumble" to the overall sound.
