So my laptop doesn't have FireWire (newer sony, c2d, 4gm ram win7, but no FireWire or Bluetooth WTF)

Would getting a pcie FireWire card for an interface be an issue?

I got a Manhattan FW expresscard on a TI chipset and it works well with my Firepod.

I've used the exact same one on an HP notebook with a Firepod and it had a knack to it: Firepod wouldn't initialize if the FW card was inserted prior to Windows XP booting, cause the card itself would not be recognized by the system. If I inserted the card after the WinXP has booted then the system recognized it and then the Firepod as well...

Not sure if you've ran into something like this
