Commented Santolla: "Tomorrow, November 26, DEATH METAL ALLSTARS leaves for Japan for our first-ever gigs. This project/band came about when a promoter asked me if I could put something together to fill some dates he had in Japan. So I called some of my bros, and we put it together. The idea for the name came from the promoter, because we are playing songs from some of the bands we've done (DEICIDE, OBITUARY, CANNIBAL CORPSE, etc.). We're doing five shows in Japan starting this Friday, and we're all really psyched. I'm keyed up to go play with some of my best friends and some of the best musicians I know. And to answer the question I've gotten a lot of emails about, yes, this WILL be an ongoing band. We've already started writing songs, and we have three days of rehearsal time booked in Tokyo to continue writing. Obviously, when we get our album together, we won't be called DEATH METAL ALLSTARS. Maybe TONY AND THE DRUNKS. I have no idea. It's gonna be metal, but not death metal. That's all I really know so far."

Also appearing on these special shows is a great unknown death metal band from Canada called VISIONS OF THE NIGHT plus several Japanese underground metal bands.

As if that will ever become a real band ... ha,ha,ha! Guess even a record will never happen. But then, what do I know? I'd definitely prefer seeing Deicide.
