I can't find the topic where this was originally posted..

Anyway - who's the owner?!!

Really great tune, keeps popping up on my iTunes - Got any more?

I am the writer and producer ... there is no topic where I posted it. I just sent it to a few people via PN to get some feedback. I am currently taking a break from the Shooting At The Olympics (SATO) stuff, to focus on writing some pop-rock demos, but hopefully I will have a 5-6 songs demo by the end of the year.

So far I have:

http://www.faderhead.com/temp/SATO_I_will_(demo with scratchverses).mp3

http://www.faderhead.com/temp/SATO_ThePainOfKnowingYouDontHaveThem_Demo.mp3

http://www.faderhead.com/temp/SATO_unjoy_the_noise_chorus_demo.mp3

But all these need more work.

Glad you like it!

I'm sure I got it from a topic about cool grungy / depressive music.

Good work dude! It's awesome!

Oh, and what's the score with the instruments - Real drums, re-amped guitars etc?

Ohhh, right! I forgot that thread ... :)

Drums = Superior 2.0
Bass = Spectrasonics Trilogy
Guitars = SimulAnalog JCM900 into a big bunch of distortion plugins ... I posted the full chain right here:
Synths = a bunch of VSTis

http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...64-guitar-tone-too-fucked-up.html#post7768628

All guitars (even the acoustics) are intentionally not tuned properly. They are tuned, but if something was a little off, I kept it like this for a less artificial, more raw sound.

The whole project is supposed to sound raw and human, which is hard to do with an almost complete ITB instrumentation (only vox and guitars are live playing). I still think it worked pretty well so far ... :)

yeah dude,.. It's awesome.

The drums are obviously really programmed - but at the same time, they work REALLY well .. I guess probably make the track more than real drums would.
The reason for that is because they really provide a steady backbone for the grooves.

:)

Awesome.

The funny thing is, that these days I have no way of telling a programmed performance from a real one because everything is quantized and sample-replaced anyway.

The normal listener doesn't know the difference anyway :)

I'm an advocate of using real drums, so when possible I'll either do 100% fake - or 100% real. So, my music tastes reflect that - and I very rarely listen to replaced stuff [that I can detect!].

It's a brilliant use of technology though..

Is that autotune on the second song or is that a vocoder?

Wicked, thanks dude.

I thought it was something like that...

can't stop listening to it!

Faderhead sounds cool - not what i'm listening to right now, but definitely something I could get into. Pretty industrial sounding!

If I pick up DJ'ing, I'll get the CD.. would go down a storm.
