Tickets are for sale now on Ticketmaster. I picked up 4 tiks!! I`m in!! Anyone else going that is in/around the area??

Hey Ray! Have you posted about this show anywhere else? I keep seeing a post about this show all over the Metal community BBs.

Yeah, that is me. I`m just doing my part in helping Saxon get the word out! I posted this all over the place. I`m a big fan of Saxon since around 79/80. I feel they never get the respect they so rightfully deserve in the United States! But then again, never do any of the Heavy Metal bands! I want as many people to get the word as possible. I enjoy small crowds and small venues, but I also enjoy "packed" venues! I`ve never been to Mulcahy`s, but it can`t be any worse than L`amours in Brooklyn?? Last time there were approx. 250 people at L`amours and there could have easily been 250+ more. I just don`t think anyone knows they`re playing? Hope to meet up with you at this show? Are you going to this one? If so, I`ll be up front so just scream out my name(RAAAAAY!!) and if I ain`t deaf, I`ll answer ya!! Cheers!

I am thinking about it. Problem is getting there. Yeah, I could get there by train. But SAXON has a reputation for coming on very late. I don't wanna get stuck in the city! I am going to research the train schedules. I know they run once an hour, but not all night. So I am going to see how late they are running.

Mulcahy`s is across the street from Penn Station? That will make it easier!

I'll let you know.

I just purchased my ticket for the show this afternoon. I'll be meeting up with you and Warren somewhere in Clifton, NJ.

It's underneath the Long Island Railroad Wantagh train station. Figure 45 minute train ride from Manhattan Penn Station. New York bars are open until 4am so figure Saxon to finish just before that. First train in the morning is probably 5 or 6. It'll be an all nigher. There's a diner accross the street. Go get some breakfast and sober up. Mul's is nicer that Lamour. Cleaner, bigger, better. I'll probably be at the Jersey show instead.

Saxon is scheduled to go on at 11pm. There is another band on after them.

It appears that Diamondhead are headlining. From what I have heard, Diamondhead SUCKS live. What the @#%$ have they put recently that warrants them the headliner spot? Looks it will be a short set for SAXON.

Good thing I have a ticket to the Long Island show. Anyone know if there is going to be an opening act at the Long Island show?

Virgin Steele are on before Saxon. Those two are my kind of bands... Old friends from the 80's who just keep on going. Who is Diamondhead? I'm outa there after Saxon.

NWOBHM band. Started out around the same time as SAXON. Released a coupla albums. Never got very big. You will recognize a few of their tunes. Am I Evil and The Prince were covered by Metallica. These guys were a huge influence on Lars Ulrich.

From what I have heard they SUCK live!

I have a BEST OF compilation. It's vintage Heavy Metal. But not better then anything SAXON have ever put out. They haven't released anything that I know of in years. I can't undertstand why these guys are headlining! SAXON should be the headliners! I'll stay to check them out. But if it sucks, I am outta there!

Hi - Vince Webmaster here ......

I Saw Diamond Head live in the UK last night - and I'll have to say the show is very very good. Very Metal. They have only just reformed into a full electric line-up having spent the last 2-3 years doing acclaimed acoustic shows.

Based on last nights show we have asked them to appear at the UK Bloodstock Festival (Saxon headlined this last year). Thats the recommendation I can give.

Sean Harris vocals are on top form and Brian Tatler's guitars are amazing. If you do not know Diamond Head then I strongly urge you to check 'em out. They are a classic UK Rock from NWOBHM outfit who do deliver the goods . If you don't watch them I bet in a year or 2 you wish you should have stayed for their set!!

BTW - Also check out Witchfynde - another UK act from the same period!!

I linda excited to see these Metal legends. But I don't think they deserve top billing over Saxon. What have they released in the last 5 years? Anything? Does a band like Saxon who have more then 20 albums out and at least put out 2 CDs this century deserve to be treated like a new comer. NO they don't!

Yeh I can't pass judgement on why DH headline. It is up to the promoter and how they want to bill each band. As I hear it Diamond Head were approached first to headline and accepted. Saxon's place on the bill followed several days later.

You want to look at a festival like Wacken - there are normally several top names playing at a similar time on different stages - who then is the headliner of that show!!

I believe that in a festival situation - the headliner is who the individual fan wants it to be on the day! Saw Motorhead and Nightwish on a festival, to me Nightwish were the band of the day. Motorhead were just Motorhead, however they were billed as headliner. For you Saxon will be the headliner of the show!!

I posted in the gig reviews by mistake,so i`m just re-posting here..yes i am going to the Long Island show too.I live about 30 miles west of Phila.and been into Saxon since 1980.I have never seen them live ,so i`m pumped about it.I am taking the train also .This is going to be great..

Hope you all have a blast!I'd LOVE to be there with all you guys!!I KNOW Ray will be going crazy!

Good news for us Brits is that they're returning for some gigs here in June:)

Lord Summerisle!! Cheers mate! We`re gonna have a blast tonight! I hear Mulcahy`s is a very nice place(?). Regardless, I`m gonna have a great time! Gonna meet some new people as well. Thats always fun too, exchanging stories from an era gone by. Gettin a bit "pumped" right now!

Are you the guy from Rhode Island?
Who'd know anyway. Some guy I talked to says he came from Rhode Island to New Jersy just for this. By himself. Cool.

Here's my review again.

Have fun at Mulcahy's I wish I was there tonight.
I have a wife/daugher (20 months)/family so on so one night out on occasion with the guys is all I get these days. I was there for the New Jersey show. See the reviews I posted around. Great big crowd. I hope all USA shows are like that.

There was no intro for Saxon, and they did their own roadying. Fritz set up himself. They used the same drumset as the last three bands. Typical festival thing, just get them on, play them and get them off.

Biff came on and said "Hello, this first song is Killing Ground from our new album". And off they went. I'm so glad they got the main stage because the other two stages sound systems resembeled train wrecks. I'm not into death metal, or porn rap, or chick bands, thank you. I'll be in the bar for those. Nevertheless, on to the second song. Biff says that they just landed in Newark from England so after an 8 hour flight and then to the gig within hours, they were beat and didnt even put a set list together. Hence the requests that they couldnt hear from the 1000 people in the main stage represented by 25 rows of Saxon fans and 50 rows behind of onlookers. Then figure 100 more upstairs in the balcony, half of which in their respected front rows. Everyone chanting SAXON SAXON SAXON

So off the plane they announced 20,000 feet.
I can't remember the order of songs, but it was pretty much nastoglia from there. No more Killing Ground. No more Metalhead. No more unleashed. Just Innocense and earlier.

As far as the shirts go, I figured that Saxon says they just arrived fron the airport. I figured that they didnt charter their own plane so daimondhead may have been with them. That would explain the lack of headliners shirt booths. I looked for Saxon and Daimondhead stuff untill Daimondhead started, then I gave up.

Anyone going to the US tour wants to grab me a shirt, I'll paypal you for it. mveneck@optonline.net

Welcome to America, Saxon!
FDNY will remember our broken heroes!

God Bless!
