Yeah I think those are public domain sounds, kinda like the hospital ambience in Queensrÿche's Operation Mindcrime ("Dr. J. Hamilton...") which can be heard in numerous tv series etc.
Also if you watch National Lampoon Dorm Daze theres a scene where like the heavens open up or whatever and you hear that exact same Gregorian chant clip
