Scalloping(sp?)

I would suggest you DO NOT do this yourself unless you are a skilled woodworker/luthier.

It's VERY easy to screw up a neck..unless of course, you happen to have a unused cheap neck about to practice on.
 
You will have to "re-learn" the way you play guitar with a scallopped neck. The advantage of that neck is the vibratto you can create by varying the degree of pressure you put on the string between the frets. Unfortunately this also means you have to learn to fret lightly even on the fastest solos, or you will simply go out of tune as you will put extra string tension on the guitar when playing. Before even having the work done to your guitar by a luthier, make sure that is what you want.
