Hello UM, I'm a long time lurker now finding my self at a point where I need to ask a few questions myself.
Although I've been writing and recording music for 10 years my technical knowledge has a lot of holes in various places. So please forgive my simple questions.
Here's my predicament.
I just bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 because my ESI Maya44e just popped and I'm broke. I'm having clipping issues with 81/85s (no volt mod) plugged into INST. This seems to be pretty common, bummer.
I decided to use my Sans Amp Para Driver DI as a fix. Here's where I'm stuck and I'm not sure if what I'm doing is correct or why.
Guitar > DI > Interface
Both the DI and interface are set to LINE, is this correct or should the DI be set to INST? I feel like it should be INST, but I wasn't sure if going from INST on the DI to LINE on the interface is correct. (remember I can't use INST on the interface). Do I need to connect the DI to the interface via XLR (for guitars)? In what ways is this different than running via 1/4 jack?
I hope my ignorance didn't make your face bleed. Thanks!
