Sci-fi metal?

I've just recommended this band on another thread, but Biomechanical are pretty awesome.
'Empires of the Worlds' is there must-have album. It's a Sci-fi concept album about a homeless guy who fights trans-dimensional space battles in his dreams, or something. The music sounds a lot like Pantera/Fear Factory with great power metal style vocals.

Also try Monsterworks - Singularity album. Another concept album about space-ships n stuff!

Also, it's not essentially the sci-fi thing I'm after, it's as much this sort of "barren wasteland/emptiness" thing.
If that makes sense, I know it's a little vague.

Bit of a stretch but I think the general concept of this album is all about nature reclaiming the earth after the fall of humanity. I think the music reflects this more than the lyrics though. I suppose you could call it sci-fi in terms of it dealing with a dystopian future etc.
