Scorpions Wacken/Unbreakable Live

Bought both these DVD's both are well worth the money! If you can only get one get Wacken it's outstanding!

Yea, seeing John Uli Roth walk on stage is priceless! What has he been eating or smoking? Sure his hair is a bit grey but he looks about the same as he did in the mid-seventies! Wow! While Klaus and especially Rudolf look much older.

Maybe I should have adopted the hippy lifestyle in the late 70s! I might have still all of my hair!

Some of Rudolf's antics are strange... like the mask during Black Out he looks like burn victim and standing on his fucking head during Bolero?! What the fuck was that?!:lol:

Wacken is an awesome concert for sure! Probably the ultimate concert for long time Scorpions fans. Features alot of their 70s stuff with Uli Jon Roth and Micheal Schenker in person, which is a dream come true with me.

Got a couple major bitches on the DVD production though...

The bass is almost distorted on my system. I had to really tweak my subwoofer to make it sound good and lost most of the PUNCH I normally enjoy.

And, again, the normal bitch about modern DVDs...the video editing. This suffers from that stupid-ass MTV-video mentality that us humans don't have an attention span over 1 second. I find it irritating when Roth or Schenker or Jabs is soloing and they won't break out of the "one second rule" for even a moment to show a whole lick.

I give the performance and event 5 stars all the way. But a point taken away for the audio/video issues that marred an otherwise PERFECT concert.

Yep! I agree its really annoying. I don't understand why these 'directors' cant grasp the difference between an MTV clip and a live concert registration.

I don't usually complain about DVD's mainly due to the fact that I collect bootlegs and those are usually shot from one particular place or a tri-pod and the sound leaves less to be desire at times. The edit job on Unbreakable is a little bit questionable, as it back back and forth between band members and at times it have a strobe type effect. That particular DVD comes with hour plus documentary on the history of the band, which is a plus... As for Wacken? The bass track is buried, I think the only track where I can clearly hear the bass is on Coast To Coast and The Zoo...

Right. I can understand trying to cram as much as you can into a 4-minute video clip. But on a two-hour concert it almost becomes unbearable.

By bass, I don't just mean bass guitar, also the kick drums. I admit the bass itself is buried, and combined with the kicks, it's more of a low, slightly distorted rumbling. No clarity at all. I have the same complaint about that Motley Crue reunion video from a couple years ago. Bass is too rumbly and distorted.

Also, I've noticed the sound on these DVD varies greatly depending on your sound system. Like the aforementioned Motley Crue video; I can't watch it on my tv sound system (two old school tower speakers and subwoofer) but it sounds a lot better in DTS on my 5.1 computer speaker system.
