Hello~ I am a guitar player from Texas—I produced a number of my own demos in High School but have otherwise focused on other things since. Seeing Swans last night, however, made me think I should try and start a band again, (and I've only ever been interested really in playing as a metal band.—Therefore, I hope this forum might be useful)
Texas is of little creative use for my taste, and would like to move somewhere else for this project, and will be willing to make immediate steps towards this possibility, if someone else is willing to help make initiative.
~I am particularly interested in Northern-Midwestern states, namely Montana or Wyoming, for whatever reason,–if anyone knows anything about those states? (Colorado seems—too expensive!—and too 'defined' by now. But that's the kind of scene for metal music I am looking for.)
My juvenilia from high school I could share, although what I am doing now might only be a vague continuation of those songs? Likewise, I have many much more recent demos, though they are voice and guitar only, and mostly improvised.
Swans, Coil, Nick Cave/Bad Seeds, Einsturzende Neubauten Current 93, Death In June, Leonard Cohen~ are a bulk of the kinds of groups I typically like, though, as for metal bands, Sabbath, Pan.Thy.Monium, earlier Katatonia and Opeth albums, Entombed, Dismember, are bands of particular importance toward me.
Celtic Frost, Portal, Black Curse, some certain songs and eras of Morbid Angel, and Drudkh more recently are otherwise groups I tend to think of very often while playing.
