North From Here is one of the best death metal albums so you might want to start there in your case because the album is very blackened death metal at times resembling black metal.

unfortunately i've heard every single sentenced album and the last 6 have been absolutely fucking terrible lol, i refuse to distinguish between them. if you ever grow tired of shit about slitting your wrists and rolling around amongst the autumn leaves with another man, check out 'when death joins us', best thing they ever did

easily the best Gothic Metal album ever made.

The Cold White Light is a close second best album of theirs.

I listened to Crimson, and it was a decent album. Maybe i'll start with this one.
