Separating frequency areas and panning them

i think if an acsending scale was played on a keyboard from bottom to top and then automated accordingly from left to right it would sound awesome.
moreover... if the low end was to be left dead center and only the mid/high frequencies were panned it might actually work!

This is very true.
And I know most people pan the left hand (lower notes) toward the left and the right hand (higher notes) toward the right on a piano (if miked with a stereo pair or each hand tracked separately.)
This is pretty obvious, but it just shows how this effect is actually being implemented.

All pretty good ideas. When I get the chance, I'm going to do a looooooot of experimenting and see if anything really sounds awesome. Might be weeks, but if I come up with anything particularly cool, I'll post results.
