Uninspiring :err: The opening band (whose name I cannot recall at the moment, but they're from Byron Bay?) rocked the hardest. The second band was good, too. Everything went downhill after they left. The only good SF performance was the Mötley Crüe "Live Wire" cover at the end.

More when I update this post in the morning.

AILD was the second band, and they were good. Both them and the first band (Parkway Drive from Byron Bay) drove the crowd into a frenzy, resulting in hardcore moshing and some blood on the floor. Very good playing, too.

During SF's set, half the audience was standing still with a bewildered look on their faces, wondering what the fuck's going on. The lead singer bludgeoned his way through all the songs, was off-key when he tried to sing instead of growl (as was the rhythm guitarists backup vocals -- his growl was good, though).

But its metalcore, the crowd needs to JUMPDAFUCKUP!
The music's gotta inspire you to. PD and AILD's sets certainly did, but SF just sounded dull as fuck. The Crue cover was pretty good, though -- they came to life on that one.

I have their albums, they are ok, but all the songs sound so similair its ridiculous!

Exactly! It was like one set of riffs broken into smaller segments. Some of the intros were cool, atmospheric pieces; then the singer barged in with his monotonous growl and fucked it up.

Lesson learnt: download and listen to the band's albums before buying the ticket.

i've got two tickets that i'm trying to get rid of. CHEAP!! $30 each

my gf is sick and can't go. and i'm not really bothered going. i have no idea how i'm going to get the tix to the person, i think i will have to meet them there and swipe my CC to get em in.

edit: whoops it's for tonight in sydney

not for sale: im going with my cousin.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the gig. It's disappointing to fork out for a ticket and then not like what you paid for. I don't know that I've ever heard that band, though they've been getting a lot of press in the last six months.

It's not so much the money issue as it is about discovering a new band that defies "popular opinion" and crows about how important it is to be one with your musical instrument -- only to let you discover they're no different than the rest of the current crop :(
