Jonne Jarvela, the leader and the main driving force behind Finnish Shaman, might be more familiar to most of you as a guest musician on Finntroll’s "Jaktens Tid". Apparently Jonne’s insane "yoik" brought a great effort to make "Jaktens Tid" what it is - the one of the most original Heavy Metal albums ever.
Jonne does Music. If you expect "Shamaniac" to be another Finntroll’s clone - you’re sadly mistaken. Besides a very light (Very Light!) touch of Black Metal, Shaman creates a high quality Folk music, totally original and totally irresistible. There’s basically nothing that you can compare this album to. I could say, it reminds of Amorphis’ "Elegy", if "Shamaniac" wasn’t way more melodic and "folkish".
The separate chapter is Jonne's voice. Gosh, this guy does amazing things with his throat! You won't believe, how nice does it feel to hear somebody who actually SINGS! Jonne obviously has a very strong feel of the North and it's visible throughout the album
